Plastic: Nonreturnable 2023

These six panels were produced in February and March, 2023 for the exhibition, Plastic: Nonreturnable, at the Two Rivers Gallery in Prince George, British Columbia. Each one is 15 x 12 inches on ¼ inch thick Japanese plywood. The panels are shellacked and sanded. The ‘signs’ are stencilled with black gesso. Then the panels were sanded smooth. All the collage material is found plastic, mostly from food and junk food packaging, the very common plastic material one purchases every day at supermarkets. The glue is acrylic matt medium. I want my messages to relate directly to both the kind of plastic-package food ordinary people buy every day, and the impact of such purchases on themselves, other animals, the environment.
